This sculpture reflects on the duality of holding power and the inevitable moment of letting it go, capturing the tension and beauty in that transition. The flowing, organic structure where forms seem to emerge and fall apart simultaneously plays with the concept of releasing control.

This sculpture serves as a metaphor for the complexity of human connections. The individual components were intentionally joined at varying stages of dryness, allowing the bonds to naturally form or fracture according to their own inherent tensions. The kiln’s transformative process further dictated the final outcome.

The glaze, with its viscous, unruly flow, infiltrates the piece like an intrusive force, an unavoidable presence asserting itself within the organic structure. Its unpredictable movement echoes the dynamics of relationships, where tension, fragility, and resilience coexist.

These clay sculptures explore the fragility and strength of connections. By using slabs at different drying stages and not forcing the attachment between them, the clay naturally shifts position as it reaches the bone dry stage and during firing. Some of the pieces come apart, others crack, and some hold shape.

These clay sculptures are a play on the interconnected series. The sculptures were placed on a pedestal with the intention of starting a conversation about what we idealize relationships to be and reality.

Different clays were mixed to create slabs which vary in textures and colours, that are intertwined. The pedestals were sometimes left bare or glazed, adding contrast or blending in with the piece.

In this sculpture, a mould was used to contain jumbled pieces of clay, like thoughts trapped and mixed up in our heads. The bubbling volcanic glaze adds to the feeling of restlessness.
